Our “90s Vintage” farmhouse

We moved! I’m exhausted, overly caffeinated, and so thankful.

I’m sitting on our front porch as I write, looking out across the cornfields at the little white water tower below. It’s raining gently and it reminds me so much of growing up.

We lived in an old Victorian home when I was little, and I loved sitting on the porch reading and watching the rain. It’s my happy place.

There have been many little surprises since moving here (some good, some bad lol).

The bad: a LOT of dead ladybugs..hmm.. honestly, that’s it so far!

The Good Surprises?

  • Lilacs and Peonies! (My two favorite flowers. I’ve been trying to grow peonies for years and they’ve always died…Excited to just enjoy them!
  • Trains (Falling asleep to train horns is so nostalgic for me.)
  • Wonderful neighbors (The neighbors to our right have miniature horses and labradoodles. Need I say more?)

But the sweetest things about this home are the quirky little reminders that this was some family’s dream 90s farmhouse. There are little handprints from ’96 on the back patio, there’s worn fruity wallpaper in the cabinet drawers, there’s vintage stenciling in the laundry room…

I love it. The subtle reminders that a family grew here.

And I love that we get to be the next chapter.

Thanks for reading!
