I started this blog because I love to write. In a world where an author must also become a social media “influencer” and get really good at creating click-bait in order to sell books, I really wanted this blog to be an escape–a place for me to write about whatever I wanted, whether anyone read it or not.
On this dreary, sleepy afternoon, I have nothing in particular to write about. But I’m in the “writing” mood. I’m sitting in my cozy little library with the fairy lights plugged in and a fall candle burning. The distant hum of the highway is comforting somehow. People are going about their busy day, and I am quietly sequestered with a steaming cup of coffee, reveling in the minutes that remain of my toddler’s nap.
Life Lately
But what should I write about? My cozy mystery was released yesterday…and now comes the not-so-fun part: marketing. I’m creating Amazon ad campaigns and posts for social media, planning book fairs, and so much more! I even made bookmarks with a QR code that is linked to a free chapter (how techy is that?!)
What else? Last week, I took a wonderful trip to Sleepy Hollow, New York with my sister-in-law to celebrate my 30th birthday. My biggest travel tip: don’t go in the middle of a nor ‘easter. 😉
Despite several events being cancelled, we made the most of it. We toured Sunnyside (Washington Irving’s home) and Philipsburg Manor, shopped on Beekman Ave, ate a lot of bagels, and visited the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and the Old Dutch Church. It was a packed weekend.
My favorite part of the trip was standing in the churchyard in the rain, breathing in the fragrance of the wet fall leaves. It was beautiful.

Ah, my toddler is awake! That’s all for today.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Christa
