Publishing my first book was a long journey of learning and improvising—going with the flow and buckling down. So often I’d find myself inspired on rainy afternoons to grab a cup of coffee and go up to my cozy office and work on my book. But then the inspiration would die. I would get wrapped up in other activities and “The Ill-Tempered Clavier” would fall by the wayside over and over again. This went on for about 5 years! My book became some dream I would get to someday, sometime.
But then I had my son.
Suddenly, I felt awakened to a new level of consciousness that life was happening NOW. If I didn’t feel like illustrating TODAY, I never would. And so I started, little by little, every day while my son napped. It took many months, but that “little by little” resulted in a kids’ book that I’m so proud of and am so excited to share!

The most stressful part of the illustration process was the cover! I experimented with several styles before I found what I wanted:



It is so exhilarating to finally hold MY book in my hands. It feels like a door has been opened to me and that beautiful worlds lie beyond, waiting for me to capture them on the page!
